Highlights: Â
·      As of June 26th, more than 302 aftershocks have been reported in the affected areas.
·      The Venezuelan government is reporting at least 920 fatalities and 3,360 people have been injured.
·      A minimum of 3,000 people has been displaced.
·      The impact is severe and widespread, with the highest concentration of damage reported in the Capital District, La Guaira, Miranda, Carabobo and Yaracuy:
o  La Guaira is the most affected state.
o  At least 1,423 buildings and infrastructure systems have been affected.
o  The MaiquetÃa International Airport remains closed.
·      The Venezuelan Red Cross’ National Headquarters has been critically damaged and some volunteers have lost their homes.
·      International Assistance:
o  The UN has deployed the UN Disaster Assessment and Coordination (UNDAC) team.
o  The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Assistance (OCHA) through the Central Emergency Response Fund has allocated $15 million to support the rapid response and provide urgent assistance.
o  As of June 27th, at the request of the Venezuelan government, Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) teams from 27 countries with 2,200 personnel and 140 search dogs have been mobilized:
ü 17 USAR teams are being coordinated through OCHA.
o  Through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, eight EU member states are sending assistance as of June 26th:
ü More than 520 responders have been deployed.
ü The EU on June 26th has allocated 5 million Euros to provide immediate assistance.
ü As of June 27th, the EU has deployed 15 tons of humanitarian supplies.
o  As of June 27th, the U.S. government has responded to the earthquake:
ü $150 million has been allocated to support response operations. These funds are being given to:
Ø $50 million in new bilateral awards to partners including World Vision, Samaritan’s Purse, Catholic Relief Services, the International Organization for Migration, UNICEF, and the World Food Program.
Ø $100 million to OCHAs Venezuela pooled fund.
ü The Virginia and California USAR Task Forces are now in Venezuela.
ü The Miami-Dade County USAR Task Force has been activated for deployment.
ü The U.S. Southern Command has deployed the following military resources:
Ø U.S. Marine Corps MV-22 Ospreys are conducting airfield assessments near the earthquake epicenter.
Ø The USS Fort Lauderdale and USS Billings are providing naval support in waters near Venezuela.
Ø U.S. Army CH-47 Chinooks are deploying from Honduras to provide transportation for personnel and supplies.
o  The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) on June 26th has released two million francs from the Disaster Response Emergency Fund.
o  17 tons of IFRC humanitarian supplies (kitchen sets, hygiene kits, mosquito nets, and other essential items) have been deployed.
