Humanitarian Assistance Highlights:

·       The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Assistance (UNOCHA) reported the following as of June 2026:

o   There are 33.7 million people in need of humanitarian assistance, 20.4 million have been targeted for assistance.

o   10.4 million people have received at least one form of humanitarian assistance in May 2026.

o   There are 8.8 million people that have been displaced in the country and 4,4 million refugees have sought shelter in neighboring countries.

·       The city of El Obeid is seriously impacted by displacements from South Kordofan, West Kordofan, North Kordofan, and Darfur:

o   There are open and overcrowded camps throughout the city.

o   The Unified Internal Displacement People (IDP) camp is the official camp with tents and shelters with a population of more than 120,000 people.

o   Food, water and fuel are critical concerns throughout the city.

o   The World Food Programme (WFP) has been providing food assistance to over 100,000 people in the different camps.

o   Fuel supplies are running extremely low which has impacted the delivery of food. WFP has had to bring in its own fleet trucks to ensure they can move food from their warehouses to the distribution points and continue operations.

·       Healthcare and Public Health Update:

o   The World Health Organization (WHO) on July 6th, reached South Kordofan's Kadugli and Dilling as part of an inter-agency convoy with 8.5 metric tons of medical supplies. This is the first WHO shipment to reach Kadugli since December 2024 due to access blockage.

o   Cholera Outbreak Update:

ü  As of July 7th, UNOCHA reported that there are 1,330 cases of Cholera and 114 people have died.

ü  WHO as of July 11th, has prepositioned 64 metric tons of cholera kits throughout the country.

ü  A total of 12 rapid response teams have been trained in West Kordofan as of July 11th.

o   WHO reported on July 13th that with funding from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia they have been able to support dialysis services to more than 5,500 patients across the country.

·       Food Insecurity Update:

o   On July 12th, the Sudanese Red Crescent Society (SRCS) conducted a field survey of small farmers in the Al-Quraisha locality to support food security and livelihoods. The project targeted 400 beneficiaries from five villages to assess their needs.

o   On July 17th a WFP convoy of 27 trucks reached Dilling and Kadugli in South Kordofan. This convoy delivered food, shelter and medical supplies.

o   The SRCS on July 17th in collaboration with the WFP distributed 28,739 metric tons of food aid to 328,071 people in the Tawila IDP camps.

o   The Famine Early Warning Systems Network (FEWS NET) has estimated that 20-22 million people will be in need of humanitarian food assistance through September:

ü  Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) Phase 4 (Emergency) outcomes are expected to spread across North Darfur; parts of Central, South, and East Darfur; much of Greater Kordofan; and Blue Nile due to conflict-driven large-scale displacement, disrupted livelihoods, and impeded commercial and humanitarian access.

ü  Some households are expected to face IPC Phase 5 (Catastrophe) outcomes in Um Baru, Kernoi, and At-Tine of North Darfur;Dilling, Kadugli, and the surrounding western Nuba Mountains in South Kordofan; El-Obeid and surrounding areas of North Kordofan; and among some IDPs in Greater Darfur and Greater Kordofan.

ü  IPC Phase 4 (Emergency) or worse outcomes will likely persist in areas along active frontlines during the October-January harvest period, as harvests are not expected to provide a meaningful source of food.

ü  In other areas of western Sudan, persistent conflict, expanding drone use, and El-Niño-linked below-average rains are expected to limit harvests and result in IPC Phase 3 (Crisis).

ü  In calmer eastern areas, access to harvests and income from agricultural labor will ease consumption gaps, supporting IPC Phase 2 (Stressed) outcomes.

ü  There is a credible risk of IPC Phase 5 (Famine) in seven areas of northwestern and central North Darfur as well as in Dilling and Kadugli towns and nearby rural areas of South Kordofan.

Violations of International Humanitarian Law Highlights:

·       The UNOCHA reports that since January 2026 there has been 21 attacks on healthcare:

o   There have been 195 fatalities and 326 people injured in these attacks.

o   15 healthcare facilities have been impacted.

o   A total of 37% of healthcare facilities are currently non-functional.

·       North Kordofan State Incidents:

o   This state’s capitol city is El Obeid which has a resident population of around 500,000 people.

o   This state has been at the center of the hostilities and is the least accessible regions for humanitarian organizations.

o   The frontlines of the civil war are only 40 kilometers from the state.

o   In June, the UN had already warned of the potential consequences of a large-scale attack by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) following reports about the mobilization of troops.

o   Drone attacks by the RSF have intensified in recent weeks in and around the city. These strikes are not limited to military targets. They often target and hit civilian areas, killing and injuring civilians.

o   Drone attacks on July 12th, have led to severe water shortages, reducing supply to just 20% of estimated needs.

o   The latest drone attack was reported by UNOCHA on July 15th.

·       On July 13th the Emergency Lawyers reported on an action being taken by the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF):

o   Fabricated pictures of detainees who were forcibly disappeared have been sent to their families.

o   The SAF claim these individuals are being held at Daqris Prison in Nyala, while verified information indicates they were arrested by the SAF in areas under their control.

o   These efforts are being taken to evade responsibility for the crime of enforced disappearance.
