Highlights:
• The World Health Organization (WHO) is reporting the following as of October 26th:
o There are 109,699 reported confirmed cases in 123 countries.
o A total of 236 people has died.
o Africa has 9,320 reported confirmed cases and 34 deaths.
o The rise in Mpox cases in Africa is driven by the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Burundi, and an expanding outbreak in Uganda.
o Outside Africa, the highest number of confirmed cases in September 2024 was reported by Australia.
• As of October 25th, the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), Mpox vaccination efforts are underway in six DRC provinces. This effort began on October 4th.
• WHO as of October 28th has trained and equipped 350 community mobilizers to strengthen surveillance in nine health zones across DRCs South Kivu.
• The European Union as of October 15th announced that they will provide an additional 20 million Euros to support Africa CDCs efforts.
• The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) on October 19th has supported the Uganda Red Cross in their community service, risk communication and the installation of a hand washing facility in the Katwe Market.

o In areas of the DRC where Mpox is endemic: High
o Nigeria and other countries of West, Central and East Africa where Mpox is endemic: Moderate
o Other countries in Africa and around the world: Moderate
