Military and Diplomatic Highlights:Â
·      The Ukrainian military is reporting the following Russian losses:
o  1,235,060 Soldiers (Wounded or Killed)
o  11,608 Tanks
o  23,951 Armored vehicles
o  36,644 Artillery pieces
o  115,813 Drones
o  434 Aircraft
o  347 Helicopters
o  4,205 Cruise missiles
·      Ukrainian Drone Operations Update:
o  As of January 23rd, the Ukrainian military is moving toward a unified data-driven digital system for drone command and control on the battlefield.
o  The Ukrainian President on January 26th reported that 80% of Russian targets have been destroyed by drones. A majority of these drones were built in Ukraine.
·      The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on January 23rd reported that the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Station has been reconnected to its last remaining backup power line after successful repairs were completed under a temporary ceasefire negotiated by the IAEA.

War and Atrocity Crimes Investigations Highlights:Â
·      Since the beginning of 2026, the World Health Organization (WHO) has documented 19 attacks on healthcare which has killed two people and injured 16.
·      WHO has reported that on January 9th Russian forces attacked an emergency medical services unit in Kyiv:
o  This attack claimed the life of a medic and injured four others.
o  Three ambulances were also damaged. Â
·      The International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP) reported that as of January 26th, they are assisting the Ukrainian government in investigating the disappearance of 80,000 individuals. Many of the missing are believed to have been detained, deported, forcibly transferred, or killed.

Civil Protection, Humanitarian Assistance and Development Highlights:
·      The Ukraine Red Cross Society (URCS) reported that following activities:
o  A total of 36 residents were evacuated from the psychoneurological care facility in the Chernihiv region on January 15th. This evacuation was due to intensified Russian shelling of the area.
o  On January 23rd, URCS delivered assistive equipment to primary healthcare centers in the Poltava district.
o  On January 26th, they delivered 420 sleeping kits, 300 bed linen sets and 940 blankets to residents of Kyiv’s Desnianskyi District.
·      Healthcare and Public Health Update:
o  As of January 15th, WHO has strengthened surveillance measures for seasonal respiratory viruses (influenza, SARS-CoV-2, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).
o  WHO in concert with the Fund of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre on January 21st delivered life-saving medical equipment to frontline-adjacent health facilities across Ukraine. The most recent delivery included:
ü 15 Anaesthesia machines
ü 8 Advanced defibrillator monitors
ü 15 Electrosurgical units
ü 15 Blood warmers
ü 7 Automated biochemistry analysis devices
ü 1 Automated microbiology analysis device
·      The World Food Programme (WFP) reported that during December 2025 they delivered 154,000 food boxes and over 650,000 fresh loaves of bread to frontline regions.
·      January 19-20 Attack on the Energy Infrastructure Update:
o  Between Jan 19-20, Russia launched more than 300 drones against Ukrainian power grids, substations and electricity generation facilities.
o  The timing and scale of these attacks, particularly during sub-zero conditions indicate a deliberate strategy to increase civilian suffering.
o  These attacks resulted in over one million people without power.
o  The Ministry of Health with support from WHO on January 22nd supplied five additional generators to hospitals in Kyiv and one to a hospital in Odessa.
o  The URCS delivered a 125 Kw diesel generator on January 23rd to the Aviation Institute, ensuring heat for buildings and dorms hosting Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
o  The URCS in concert with other partners has been establishing heating points in the areas affected by the power disruptions:
ü These sites offer warmth, device charging stations, and hot tea.
ü Four heating points are currently operating in Kyiv as of January 26th.
o  As of January 23rd, the European Union through the rescEU strategic reserve is deploying 447 emergency generators. The generators will be used to address urgent needs.
o  The Ukrainian President reported on January 26th that the most affected regions are Kyiv, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Dnipro, and Zaporizhzhia:
ü Kyiv took the brunt of the attack with more than 1,200 apartment buildings still without heat.

Cultural Heritage Protection Highlights:
The UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) reported that as of January 7th, they have verified damage to 515 cultural sites. This includes:
·      153 Religious sites
·      268 Buildings of historical and/or artistic interest
·      38 Museums
·      33 Monuments
·      19 Libraries
·      3 Archaeological sites
·      1 Archive
