Garden Grove, CA Hazardous Materials Incident Situation Report #2

Highlights:  

·       Unified Command has confirmed the following:

o   No chemical leak.

o   No threat of explosion.

o   No threat of fire.

o   No risk to the public.

·       The fire suppression system used to cool the chemical containment tanks was deactivated on May 26, and the tanks are no longer considered a threat.

·       All remaining mandatory evacuation orders were lifted on May 26th.

·       The 8 shelters that were opened for this incident have been closed.

·       154 patients were initially evacuated from 12 medical facilities in the affected area.

·       The US Environmental Protection Agency placed 11 perimeter air monitors in the affected area.

·       A Federal Emergency Declaration was granted on May 25th.
