Military and Diplomatic Highlights:
· The Ukrainian military is reporting the following Russian losses:
o 1,091,000 Soldiers (Killed or Wounded)
o 11,172 Tanks
o 23,262 Armored vehicles
o 32,606 Artillery pieces
o 57,851 Drones
o 422 Aircraft
o 341 Helicopters
o 2,691 Cruise missiles
· On September 10, Russia launched 415 drones, 42 cruise missiles of various types, and 1 ballistic missile at Ukraine. Ukrainian air defenders shot down 386 drones and 27 missiles.
· As of September 4th, the United Kingdom over the last 50 days have contributed the following to Ukraine:
o 4.7 million rounds of small arms ammunition for Ukrainian soldiers
o 60,000 artillery shells, rockets, and missiles
o Over 2,500 drones
o More than 200 electronic warfare systems
o 100 light weapons
o 30 vehicles
· Violation of NATO/Polish Airspace by Russia:
o On September 9th, the Poland Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that their airspace was breached 19 times by Russian drones. All of these drones were shot down by NATO forces.
o In response to this incursion, Poland has called on the North Atlantic Alliance to invoke Article 4 of the Treaty.
o Following a North Atlantic Council meeting, the NATO Secretary General made the following statement.
o As of 7:52 PM EST there was no statement issued on X by the President of the United States or the U.S. Department of Defense on this violation of NATO airspace.
War and Atrocity Crimes Investigations Highlights:
· The World Health Organization (WHO) on August 28th reported that three health facilities in Kyiv were damaged in Russian attacks. So far in 2025, there have been 339 attacks on healthcare that have been verified by WHO.
· On September 4th, the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) confirms that one of their humanitarian demining sites in Ukraine was struck by a missile. The attack claimed the lives of two Ukrainian colleagues and left eight others injured.
· On September 9th, a Russia missile strike occurred in the village of Yarova, Donetsk Region:
o 24 people were killed and 19 people were injured.
o A majority of the victims were older people who were in the process of collecting their pensions.
· Russian forces targeted a sewing workshop in Volochysk, Khmelnytskyi region on September 10th. Three people were injured in this attack.
Humanitarian Impact and Response and Recovery Highlights:
· WHO with EU support on August 29th delivered a new autonomous heating unit and space for future gas modules for the Chernivtsi Emergency Hospital. This upgrade ensures uninterrupted care at Ukraine’s only specialized departments of neurosurgery, pediatric trauma, thermal injury and hematology.
· As of September 1st, over 41,000 people in the Donetsk region received World Food Programme food boxes. Each box contains everything needed for a hot meal: grains, legumes, oil, flour, and sugar.
· On September 2nd, the EU reported the following medical evacuation update:
o 4,547 missions have been completed.
o 27 missions are in progress.
o 1,049 missions have been cancelled.
o There are 15 unmet mission requests.
· The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported on September 5th that partner organizations delivered medical supplies and hygiene kits to the front-line Lyman community in the Donetsk Region.
· WHO on September 9th reported that a mission visited Zaporizhzhia, one of the frontline regions in Ukraine. The mission aims to monitor the needs of the population before the upcoming winter.
Russian Dis-information Campaign Highlights:
· As of August 29th, the Russian Foreign Minister is continuing his dis-information campaign. The latest analysis of this campaign is here.
Cultural Heritage Protection Highlights:
On September 5th the ALIPH Foundation signed a Memorandum on the establishment of the Ukrainian Fund for Cultural Heritage. This fund’s goal are:
· Pool partner resources and distribute them through grants and other support mechanisms.
· In the future, the fund’s resources will go towards restoring museums, libraries, archives, churches, and other heritage sites, as well as digitizing collections and training specialists.
