Nationwide Highlights:
· The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that as of April 24th there have been 884 confirmed cases now in 30 jurisdictions:
o 11% of people infected required hospitalization.
o The highest age group (38%) affected has been children ages five to 19 years old.
o 97% of the cases occurred with people who were unvaccinated.
Texas Highlights:
· There have been 646 cases with an increase of 22 case since the State’s last report on April 22nd:
o 1% of these cases are estimated to be actively infectious
o 64 people required hospitalization.
New Mexico Highlights:
· There have been 66 cases:
o 47 were unvaccinated prior to infection.
o Seven people required hospitalization.
· Vaccination clinics are occurring statewide and are scheduled to end on April 30th. The Department of Health’s Hotline is active and can connect residents with local pharmacies with vaccine in stock.
Oklahoma, Kansas and Indiana Highlights:
· Oklahoma Department of Health reported that there have been 15 cases (12 confirmed & 2 probable):
o 14 of the people infected were unvaccinated.
· The Kansas Division of Public Health have reported 37 cases in eight counties:
o 31 people were unvaccinated.
o One person required hospitalization.
· Indiana Department of Health is now reporting eight cases.
