Las Vegas Cyber Truck Explosion Situation Report #2

Highlights:
• The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) and the City’s Marshals will remain on extra alert with a significant officer presence on the Strip, in the downtown and throughout the valley for the next two days.
• The incident is being investigated jointly by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol. Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the LVMPD. Thousands of tips have been received and the agencies involved are following up on these tips.
• The cyber truck has been moved to an LVMPD facility to support the investigation.
• The driver of the vehicle has been tentatively identified as Matthew Alan Livelsberger:
o He is 37 years old and an active-duty Green Beret with the U.S. Army.
o A government identification card and passport were found inside the vehicle.
o An I-Phone, Smartwatch, two firearms, fireworks, gas canisters and other miscellaneous items were recovered from the vehicle. The firearms were bought legally.
o Mr. Livelsberger was on approved leave from Germany, he had served with the 10th Special Forces Group.
o The driver of the vehicle died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound before the explosion occurred.
o DNA verification is pending to confirm that Livelsberger is the driver located in the vehicle
• In the New Orleans Terrorist Attack press conference the FBI stated that at this time there is no link between the New Orleans attack and this incident:
o Matthew Alan Livelsberger and the New Orleans suspect both served at Fort Bragg but in different units and at different times.
o They both served in Afghanistan but not in the same unit.
• The FBI, the ATF, and the Colorado Springs Police Department are conducting law enforcement activity at Mr. Livelsberger’s home.
