Global Highlights:
· The World Health Organization (WHO) on May 23rd reported the following:
o There remain 12 cases worldwide with three deaths.
o On May 22nd, the Netherlands reported one additional case, which was a crew member of the MV Hondius. He is in isolation and has no symptoms.
o The last death was reported on May 2nd.
o More than 600 contacts continue to be followed in 30 countries, and a small number of high-risk contacts are still being located.
· WHO is actively monitoring all quarantined passengers and crew alongside national governments. Surveillance will continue until the incubation period ends for everyone who was on board.
· The MV Hondius is docked in the Netherlands undergoing sanitation.
United States Highlights:
· The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on May 18th that the 18 repatriated US passengers were requested to remain at the University of Nebraska Medical Center’s (UNMC) Quarantine Unit through May 31st.
· The CDC has issued quarantine orders for two passengers who were repatriated to UNMC.
· UNMC on May 22nd reported that none of the patients have reported any symptoms.
