Military and Diplomatic Highlights: · The Prime Minister of Israel has stated that there will be no ceasefire without the release of the hostages in Gaza. · The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported the following activities on November 9th: o A drone was launched from Syria that hit a school in Eilat. In response the IDF targeted the organization that launched the drone. o IDF struck Hezbollah military targets in Lebanon. These targets included compounds, observation posts and military hardware. · Two more senior Hamas leaders were killed in Gaza, they were: o Ibrahim Abu-Maghsib, Head of Hamas’ Anti-Tank Missile Unit in the Central Camps Brigade o Mohsen Abu Zina, Head of Weapons and Industries · The IDF is continuing to expose and destroy Hamas terrorist infrastructure in Gaza. This infrastructure includes tunnels and water and oxygen storage. A total of 130 tunnel entrances have been destroyed since the beginning of the war. Civil Protection and Humanitarian Assistance Highlights: Israel · On November 8th Magen David Adom treated two people and one infant following a shooting attack near Gitit in the Jordan Valley. Gaza Strip · As of November 8th, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescents reported 10,000 fatalities in Palestine. · Almost 1.6 million people have been displaced across the Gaza Strip since October 7th. · The UN Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) is hosting 742,000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in 151 facilities throughout the Gaza Strip. · The IDF on the fifth consecutive day has opened another evacuation corridor for civilians in Northern Gaza to move south: o These corridors are along the North-South Road and open from 10am to 2pm. o At least 70,000 people have used these corridors so far. o The UN and other humanitarian partners are supporting through monitoring and providing water and some food just south of Wadi Gaza. · Healthcare and Public Health Update: o On November 8th, the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) Al Quds Hospital curtailed most operations to ration fuel use. As of November 9th, they are facing imminent fuel depletion within 24 hours. o As of November 9th, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported that Gaza’s only psychiatric hospital became non-functional after sustaining damage due to an attack on November 5th. The hospital was forced to discharge inpatients and halt services. o A Joint UNRWA and WHO convoy delivered 56 metric tons of health supplies to the Al-Shifa Hospital. o There are at least 50,000 pregnant women in Gaza and 180 of these women give birth every day: ü UNRWA is hosting 4,600 displaced pregnant women and 380 newborns in their facilities. o All municipal water wells have shut down again due to the lack of fuel, halting the supply of water for domestic non-drinking uses. · The European Union has so far shipped 372 tons of relief supplies on eight flights to support people in Gaza. Violations of International Humanitarian Law (IHL): · The Israeli government reports that a total of 240 people (Israeli and foreign nationals) are still being held hostage by Hamas. · A total of 99 UNRWA employees have been killed and 26 have been injured. · The Naser Children’s Hospital in Gaza city was hit during an airstrike, reportedly killing three people and over a dozen were injured. · The PRCS has reported the following: o Israeli bombardments around the Al Quds Hospital has closed all roads around the hospital and medical teams are unable to leave the hospital. o On November 9th, a strike near the Al-Awda Hospital injured one PRCS paramedic and severely damaged two ambulances. o A PRCS paramedic was shot while attempting to reach injured people at the Jenin Refugee Camp. · As of November 8th, WHO has documented 108 attacks on healthcare which have resulted in: o 512 fatalities and 654 people injured. o 39 healthcare facilities have been damaged. o 39 ambulances affected Dis-Information Highlights: · Russia through their UN ambassador has made misleading statements regarding Israel’s right to self-defense.
