Military and Diplomatic Highlights: · The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are reporting the following activities: o The Iranian Imam Hossein militia was deployed to Southern Lebanon to support Hezbollah. This militia was originally stationed in Syria. o A cruise missile was launched from the southeast toward Israeli airspace but was intercepted by Israeli fighter jets. o Muhammad A'sar, the Head of Hamas’ Anti-Tank Missile Unit in Gaza was killed by the IDF. · The Ministry of Defense as of November 2nd is reporting that more than 3,000 tons of combat equipment have been brought to Israel by 100 cargo planes and five ships. Civil Protection and Humanitarian Assistance Highlights: Israel · Indiscriminate rocket attacks have continued to target Israeli population centers over the last 24 hours with no fatalities reported. · On November 2nd, Magen David Adom responded to a shooting of an overturned vehicle near the village of Beit Lid. The occupant of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. Gaza Strip · The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) reported that there are reports of 2,000 people missing under the ruble of the destroyed buildings, at least 1,100 of these missing persons are children. · On November 1st, another relief convoy of 10 trucks entered Gaza through the Rafah border crossing. o The available relief supplies that have entered Gaza through this crossing remain insufficient to cover the basic needs of the affected population. · On November 1st between 0300 hours and 1115 hours, Gaza’s telecommunication and internet services were again cut which prevented humanitarian organizations from communicating and leaving civilians in an information vacuum. · Some 690,000 Internally Displaced People (IDPs) are sheltering in 149 UN Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) shelters across the Gaza Strip. · Gaza city and northern Gaza have been largely cut off from the rest of the strip because of the Israeli ground operations. Delivery of humanitarian aid from the south to about 300,000 IDPs in the north has come to a halt. · Healthcare and Public Health Update: o A total of 14 of the 36 hospitals and two specialty health care centers in Gaza are no longer operational due to lack of fuel. o The hospitals that remain open are overloaded with 40% more patients than they are designed to manage. o The World Health Organization (WHO) announced that Egypt has accepted 81 injured people for treatment: ü The Al-Arish Hospital will be the main first referral hospital. It is fully equipped with resuscitation and intensive care facilities, and a range of surgical teams to manage severe injuries, including major trauma and burns. o The medical needs of the people in the Gaza Strip are urgent on top of the thousands that have already been injured in the conflict: ü More than 1,000 people need kidney dialysis. ü 2,000 patients are currently on cancer therapy. ü There are 45,000 people with cardiovascular diseases. ü More than 60,000 people have various types of diabetes. · The UNOSAT released a comprehensive damage assessment of the Rafah Governorate in the Gaza Strip. The results of this assessment are: o 221 destroyed structures o 307 severely damaged structures o 749 moderately damaged structures · A damage assessment of the Gaza Strip agricultural areas was conducted on October 27th. This assessment revealed that 22% of the arable land in the Gaza Strip has been affected. · On November 1st, the Rafah Border Crossing was opened for the movement of people, allowing the evacuation of some 345 foreign passport holders. The U.S. State Department reported this included U.S. citizens. West Bank and Lebanon · In the West Bank since the October 7th attack there has been 130 fatalities and 2,220 people injured due to settler violence and access restrictions. · Due to Hezbollah attacks on Israel, an estimated 28,965 people have been displaced from Southern Lebanon. Violations of International Humanitarian Law (IHL): · Hamas is still holding at least 240 people (Israelis and foreign nationals) hostage. · A total of 72 UNRWA staff have been killed in the Gaza Strip. · The PRCS reported that Israeli forces opened fire on a PRCS ambulance. Two first responders were injured. · The UNRWA shelter in the Jabalia Refugee Camp was damaged and at least 20 people were reportedly killed and five injured. Dis-Information Highlights: · Israel supporters on X are using the label “Pallywood”, which is a mix of the words “Palestine” and “Hollywood” to claim that Palestinians are staging scenes of death and violence using so-called crisis actors: o One example was a blue checked X user (@rose_k01) sharing a photomontage appearing to show three different men carrying the same child. o The photos are real, but they show a Syrian girl who was rescued in Aleppo, Syria, on August 27, 2016, following an airstrike by Syrian government forces.
