Highlights:

·         The ongoing conflict between the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has resulted in more than 12,000 fatalities and extensive damage to critical infrastructure and facilities, the collapse of banking and financial services, frequent interruptions to electricity supply and telecommunication services and widespread looting.

·         This conflict has displaced about 10.7 million people, most of those displaced (9 million) are Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). 

·         As of February 7th, half of the country’s population (25 million) need humanitarian assistance and 18 million people are acutely food insecure. 

·         Healthcare and Public Health Update:

o   The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that as of February 1st there are:

ü  10,440 cholera cases and 292 deaths

ü  At least 4,600 measles cases and 106 deaths

ü  A minimum of 7,600 dengue cases and 66 deaths

o   WHO is currently supporting 21 mobile health clinics throughout the country with medical supplies, operational support, and technical assistance.

o   Since April 2023, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has supported 30 mobile medical teams:

ü  These teams have provided 73,000 people with integrated reproductive health and gender-based violence services throughout the country.

o   There have been 62 attacks on healthcare that have resulted in 38 deaths and 45 injuries.

·         The 2024 Sudan Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan appeal is 3.3% funded as of February 4th.
