Highlights:
· As of February 20th, there was nine confirmed cases and one death:
o Eight cases received care at treatment centers in Kampala and in Mbale. As of February 24th, all eight patients were discharged.
o A total of 91 contacts were identified and as of February 18th they had completed the 21-day follow-up period without developing symptoms.
· On February 13th, the World Health Organization (WHO) released an additional $2 million from the WHO Contingency Fund for Emergencies.
· WHO advised against imposing travel and economic restrictions as of February 17th.
· On February 27th, WHO supported the deployment of a National Emergency Medical Team. It consists of 44 members from various cadres.
· As of February 27th, 20,000 travelers are screened daily at the country’s different points of entry. Training for 44 staff members at the Entebbe International Airport was conducted by WHO and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
