Spokane County Wildfires Situation Report #2- FINAL

Highlights:

· There are two active fires in Spokane County, they are:

o Gray Fire: 10,085 acres and is 73% contained:

ü The cause of this fire is undetermined.

ü The fire is threatening 850 homes and a total of 240 structures have been destroyed.

ü A total of 564 personnel is assigned to this fire.

ü The resources assigned include 13 crews, 1 Helicopter and 61 engines.

ü Crews are continuing to mop up the perimeter. They are also working within the interior of the burned area to perform structure assessments, fall hazard trees, suppress hot spots, and secure structure perimeters.

o Oregon Fire: 11,021 acres and is 33% contained:

ü The cause of this fire is undetermined.

ü The fire is threatening 126 homes and has destroyed 258 structures.

ü A total of 990 personnel is assigned to this fire.

ü The resources assigned include 24 crews, 7 helicopters and 69 engines.

· Two emergency shelters remain open with a population of 36 people.

· A Disaster Assistance Center was opened for both fires on August 25th.
