Military and Diplomatic Highlights: 

·         The Ukrainian military is reporting the following Russian losses:

o   429,580 Soldiers (Wounded or Killed)

o   6,779 Tanks

o   12,973 Armored vehicles

o   10,606 Artillery

o   8,268 Drones

o   347 Aircraft

o   324 Helicopters

o   1,922 Cruise missiles

o   26 Ships

o   14,024 Vehicles and fuel tanks

·         International Assistance:

o   As of March 14th, Sweden has announced that they will be providing artillery ammunition worth 30 million Euros.

o   The European Union will step up their military support with another 5 billion Euros.

o   On March 13th, the United States has announced another security assistance package worth $300 million.  This package includes:

ü  Stinger anti-aircraft missiles

ü  Additional ammunition for HIMARS

ü  155mm artillery rounds

ü  105mm artillery rounds

ü  AT-4 anti-armor systems

ü  Additional rounds of small arms ammunition

ü  Demolitions munitions for obstacle clearing.

ü  Spare parts, maintenance, and other ancillary equipment.

o   Denmark on March 12th announced another military aid package valued at $337 million.  This package will include:

ü  CAESAR artillery systems

ü  Self-propelled 120-mm mortars

ü  155-mm ammunition

·         The International Atomic Energy Agency reported on March 15th that the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant has regained access to its only remaining back-up power line, following an outage of more than three weeks.

 

War and Atrocity Crimes Investigations Highlights: 

·         The Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine reported 590 new war crimes were registered between March 8-15. 

·         The International Commission on Missing Persons on March 12th donated 10,000 reference sample kits to Ukrainian institutions.  These kits will be used to support efforts to account for missing persons.

·         Russia has continued to strike civilian targets:

o   On March 13th the cities of Myrnohrad, Sumy, and Kryvyi Rih were targeted.  These attacks killed six people, injured 58 people and three people were reported as missing. 

o   A strike on Odesa on March 15th killed at least 14 people and 46 people were injured.  This attacks also resulted in the death of one paramedic and injured one health worker.  At least six ambulances and two healthcare facilities were also damaged. 

 

Humanitarian Impact and Response and Recovery Highlights:

·         The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) is reporting the following:

o   21.3 million people have been affected, and 17.6 million people are in need.

o   A total of 11.1 million people has been targeted to receive assistance and 9.0 million have been reached. 

·         The Ukrainian Red Cross has provided the following assistance:

o   On March 11th, 10 generators with a capacity of 25 kW to 60 kW were delivered to communities in the Melitopol district.

o   Additional mobile shelters for civilians were installed in Orikhiv and Gulyaypole on March 14th.

o   Food parcels were delivered to 1,300 residents of Kherson on March 15th. 

·         OCHA as of March 12th estimated that 9.6 million people need water, sanitation, and hygiene support.

·         World Central Kitchen have been providing seed packets as part of their regular food kit deliveries.  This will allow people to grow their own food.

·         Healthcare and Public Health Update:

o   The World Health Organization on March 12th donated 12 vehicles to the Ukrainian Ministry of Health.  They will be used by community mental health teams across the country. 

o   On March 15th OCHA and its partners delivered eight tons of medical and hygiene supplies to the Preobrazhenka Community.

o   Medical evacuations by the European Union (EU) have continued.  As of March 15th, there has been 3,990 mission requests:

ü  A total of 3,170 missions have been completed. 

ü  32 missions are in progress.

ü  12 missions are pending approval.

ü  712 missions were cancelled.

ü  On March 12th, the EU transferred the one thousandth patient to Germany. 

·         The UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) estimates that it will cost $1.26 Billion to restore the country’s scientific infrastructure.  Russian attacks have so far damaged or destroyed 1,443 scientific facilities.

 

Russian Dis-information Campaign Highlights:

·         Russian disinformation campaigns failed to stop Finland’s and Sweden’s accession into NATO but sowed division and highlighted how Russia could potentially undermine the alliance in the future.

·         In areas of Ukraine under occupation, Russia is building its propaganda networks, spreading disinformation through newly established TV, radio, and Telegram channels.

 

Cultural Heritage Protection Highlights:

·         The Ukraine Ministry of Culture and Information Policy reported on March 7th that a total of 1,946 objects of cultural infrastructure have been damaged or destroyed.
