Philippines & Indonesia 7.8 Earthquake Situation Report #2

Philippines Highlights:
· There have been at least 2,000 aftershocks ranging from magnitude 1.2 to 6.4, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, with further aftershocks expected.
· Currently, there is 45 fatalities and 487 people have been injured:
o 17 people are reported as missing.
· At least 197,750 people have been affected and 25,000 remain displaced:
o 16,000 people are sheltering in 31 evacuation centers.
o At least 7,886 homes have been affected (1,596 destroyed and 6,720 partially damaged).
· The General Santos International Airport is closed to commercial flights.
· The estimated infrastructure losses are $9.2 million.
· Government Response Update:
o The government has deployed 2,700 search and rescue personnel.
o The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has deployed two mobile command centers and one mobile kitchen.
o The DSWD has continued to provide relief assistance (food packages and items) and more than $3.5 million worth of humanitarian assistance.
· The Philippine Red Cross is delivering search and rescue, assisting in evacuations and hospital care, and reinforcing health services with emergency medical tents and blood supplies.
· The World Food Programme has assisted the DSWD in establishing mobile storage units for food packet distribution in General Santos City.
Indonesia Highlights:
· The earthquake has also affected parts of the country, as of June 9th the initial impacts have been:
o There are 37 possible fatalities and four missing people.
o At least 488 people have been injured.
o A minimum of 145,700 people has been affected:
ü 32,000 people have been displaced and are sheltering in 54 evacuation centers.
o 12 cities have experienced power disruptions, six have had power restored.
· Infrastructure Update:
o 2,500 homes have been damaged.
o At least 10 road sections and two bridges have been impacted.
o Two schools have been damaged
o One hospital has suffered damage.
