Military and Diplomatic Highlights:

Gaza

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) killed the following Hamas terrorists between August 2-14:

· Hudhaifa Khaled Suleiman Qawari, Company commander in the Khan Yunis brigade of Hamas׳ military wing.

· Adnan Taha Abu al-Tayf, Nukhba commander in Hamas' military wing who infiltrated Israel during the October 7^th attack.

· Jalal Tsubeih, Commander in the Daraj Tuffah Battalion of Hamas’ military wing.

· Muhammad Bassam Muhammad Mushtaha, Hamas company commander who infiltrated Israel and participated in the October 7^th attack.

· Jamal Mahmoud Abu Kamil, Hamas commander who infiltrated Israel during the October 7^th attack.

· Mahmoud Fatair, Nukhba commander in the Islamic Jihad's Central Gaza Brigade.

· Salem Jamal Abd al-Rahman Abu Labad, Hamas Nukhba cell commander who infiltrated Kibbutz Nir Oz during the October 7^th attack.

· Muhammad Abd al-Nasser Muhammad Khatib, Commander in Hamas' Maghazi Battalion.

Lebanon

· The IDF reported on August 6^th that they struck several terrorist sites (weapons storage facilities, command center and other infrastructures sites) across Southern Lebanon:

o These strikes were in response to an incident on August 5^th that killed three IDF soldiers and four were injured in an explosion in the area of Majdal Zoun.

· As of August 6^th, the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) reported daily violations of Lebanese airspace and military activities on the ground. On August 5^th the IDF launched 113 projectiles which was the highest recorded by UNIFIL since June 21^st.

· The IDF between August 14-16 killed the following Hezbollah terrorists:

o Abu Hassan Alaa, Senior commander in Hezbollah’s “Badder Unit”, in response to Hezbollah’s action in the Security Zone against IDF soldiers.

o Ali Samir Al-Haj Hassan, Hezbollah battalion commander in the Radwan Force unit. Hassan’s family was present with him inside the command post. They were also all killed. The IDF stated that he was using them as human shields.

· On August 15^th, the Israel Prime Minister’s Office (PM) reported that Hezbollah violated the ceasefire in Lebanon by attacking IDF soldiers in the security zone:

o Three soldiers were injured.

o IDF responded to the attack by striking a Hezbollah headquarters.

o The PMs office claimed that only after the attack, was it made aware that civilians were inside the headquarters when it was attacked.

Gaza and West Bank Humanitarian Assistance Highlights:

Gaza

· Military activities have continued, with daily air strikes, shelling, gunfire and naval fire reported mainly west of the agreed deployment line known as the “Yellow Line" where nearly the entire population of 2.1 million people remains concentrated in less than half of the Strip amid extremely overcrowded conditions.

· On August 10^th the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) opened the North Field Hospital in northern Gaza:

o The hospital is equipped to provide emergency, surgical, maternity, pediatric and other essential healthcare services.

o This is the sixth PRCS hospital in Gaza and is expected to serve around 500,000 people.

· As of August 16^th, the UN Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) 11,000 staff continue to support communities in need:

o They have provided 19 million health visits in Gaza since the start of the war.

o Between July 16-30, UNRWA distributed around 88 million liters of water reaching over 800,000 displaced people daily.

o They have collected around 5,200 tons of solid waste benefiting over 1.3 million displaced people.

· Food Security Update:

o The latest Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) analysis has shown modest improvement but 1.4 million people remain acutely food insecure:

ü These improvements have been driven by sustained humanitarian assistance rather than durable recovery of livelihoods, markets or food systems, and could quickly reverse if aid declines.

o Kerem Shalom remains the sole entry point for humanitarian and commercial cargo, limiting the scale and efficiency of operations.

o The World Food Programme (WFP) faces a $565 million funding gap over the next sixth months:

ü Cash transfers have already been reduced, and further cuts to in-kind assistance will be unavoidable as of October without urgent funding.

o The WFP has reached between 1.5 to two million people each month since the October 2025 ceasefire with food, cash and nutrition assistance, while supporting recovery and market-based approaches where feasible.

· UN agencies and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) partners offloaded over 55,800 pallets of aid at the Kerem Shalom Crossing for collection within Gaza in July:

o This marked a substantial increase from the approximately 41,800 pallets recorded in June and the 47,800 pallets recorded on average each month between March and May, appearing more in line with the volumes recorded before the onset of the regional escalation.

· Kerem Shalom remains the only operational crossing for cargo entering Gaza:

o The Logistics Cluster reported that UN and partners’ aid offloading rate, representing the proportion of trucks that were successfully offloaded at Kerem Shalom against those authorized to be manifested each day, declined from 90% over the previous three weeks to 77% during the reporting period.

o This decrease was primarily driven by a 30% offloading rate through Egypt. Of the trucks that did not offload, 94% were returned by the Israeli authorities with no reason provided, while the remainder were rejected due to pallet conditions or were unable to offload because of operational constraints.

· The EU reported on August 12th that another Humanitarian Air Bridge flight landed in Al-Arish, with health and education supplies. These supplies will be delivered via EU partners to the affected population.

Violations of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Highlights:

· In Israel, over 1,200 people have been killed and around 5,400 injured as of August 5^th.

· As of August 5^th, at least 73,381 Palestinians have been killed and around 174,231 have been injured.

Gaza

· Between January 1 to August 6, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported 45 attacks on healthcare which resulted in 10 people killed and 44 injured.

West Bank

As of August 16th, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Assistance (OCHA) reported that violence is on the rise:

· Palestinians have been killed, injured and displaced in high numbers.

· By the end of June, the number of settler attacks causing casualties or damage since 2025 had surpassed 3,000.
