Military and Diplomatic Highlights:
Israel
· The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported on March 6th that eight soldiers were injured due to a projectile fired from Lebanon.
Iran
· The ACLED has recorded hundreds of strikes in at least 26 of the country’s 31 provinces. The majority of the attack has been in Tehran and central, western and the southern part of the country.
· The Institute for the Study of War reported that the US and Israeli combined force have advanced to the next phase of their campaign, which will focus on targeting Iranian defense industrial assets, especially missile production facilities.
· The IDF on March 5th completed their 12th wave of attacks and highlighted the following:
o The headquarters of the special unit responsible for all internal security forces was targeted in the Alborz province.
o In Tehran, the targets included the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, the Basij organization, and a central command center for the armed Internal Security forces, and dozens of command centers and weapons sites.
· The IDF reported the following accomplishments as of March 6th:
o A total of 300 missile launchers have been destroyed.
o At least 600 infrastructure sites have been destroyed.
o Ali Khamenei’s underground military bunker in Tehran was destroyed.
o 40 Senior governmental officials have been killed.
· The U.S. Naval Institute reported on March 4th that Sri Lanka has interned one Iran’s remaining naval vessels and its crew on humanitarian grounds following a U.S. submarine attack against an Iranian frigate near its territorial waters.
· U.S. Central Command reported on March 6th that they have attacked and seriously damaged an Iranian naval drone carrier.
· On March 6th, the U.S. Naval Institute reported that another Iranian naval vessel (Lavan 514) has sought refuge in the Port of Kochi. The ship was already in dock after experiencing engine troubles prior to the conflict.
Lebanon
· The IDF reported that they have killed the following individuals between March 5-6:
o Wasim Attallah Ali, Hamas Commander
o Zaid Ali Jumaa, Hezbollah firepower management commander
· The IDF conducted 26 strikes in the Dahieh area of Lebanon, targeting Hezbollah terrorist infrastructure on March 6th. These targets included:
o Executive council’s command center.
o Drone storage facility.
Iranian Regional Attacks:
· Iran conducted numerous drone attacks and some ballistic missile attacks targeting Arab Gulf countries on March 5th:
o Iranian drone attacks appear to primarily target the UAE.
o Iranian drone and ballistic missile attacks on Gulf energy infrastructure have continued to disrupt the regional energy industry.
o The IDF is anticipating that Iranian ballistic fire at Israel will stop soon.
· Iran is continuing to attempt to disrupt international shipping within the Persian Gulf as part of a broader effort to impose a cost on the Gulf states.
· Iran is reportedly continuing to load and export goods to foreign markets, despite the war.
Civil Protection and Humanitarian Assistance Highlights:
Evacuation of Foreign Nationals
· The U.S. Department of State is continuing to surge aviation and ground transport options for stranded American citizens.
· In Iraq, Iranian-aligned terrorist groups may seek to target hotels frequented by foreigners in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region. U.S. citizens are strongly encouraged to depart as soon as possible.
· Between March 4-5, the European Union through the Civil Protection Mechanism has supported six repatriation flights to Bulgaria, Italy, Austria, and Slovakia. Additional repatriation flights are planned in the coming days.
Lebanon
· The UN Refugee Agency reports that over 30,000 people (mostly Syrians) have crossed into Syria since the conflict began.
· The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported that between March 4-5, the IDF issued displacement orders for the civilian population residing from the Litani River to the border. Another displacement order targeted one of the large suburbs of southern Beirut which led to a large-scale movement in multiple directions.
· The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) reported on March 5th that they have been supporting the transportation of dozens of civilians to several south Lebanese villages this week.
· The Lebanese government in response to the ongoing displacements identified 700 public schools as collective shelters. 11 of these are specifically designated for individuals with disabilities:
o Over 84,000 people are now sheltering in nearly 400 collective sites.
· The UN and their non-governmental partners have reported the following activities:
o Shelter sector partners have distributed at least 48,400 core relief items.
o Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) partners have distributed a total of 6,672 kits (hygiene kits, baby kits, menstrual health kits, center
o kits) benefiting at least 30,000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and 47,000 liters of drinking water.
o Food security partners have distributed a total of 121,187 meals, including approximately 47,518 meals on March 5th alone and 6,540 Ready-to-Eat kits.
· The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health has activated the Health Sector Emergency Taskforce and the Command‑and‑Control Centre to coordinate medical evacuations, trauma care, emergency obstetric and newborn care, and referrals across ambulance services, designated trauma centers, and hospitals.
Islamic Republic of Iran
· At least 100,000 Afghan refugees fled Tehran in the first two days of the conflict.
· Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) rescuers are continuing relief and rescue operations to assist civilians affected by the conflict.
· The IRCS reported as of March 6th, that over 4,000 civilian buildings have been destroyed by US/Israeli air strikes, this includes:
o 3,646 Residential and civilian units.
o 528 Commercial units.
Violations of International Humanitarian Law Highlights (Iran & Lebanon):
· The number of fatalities at the US/Israeli air strikes at the all-girls school in Minab County, Hormozgan has risen to 165.
· The IRCS reported on March 5th that 14 medical treatment centers (hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and surgery centers) have been affected by airstrikes:
o Three hospitals are no longer operational.
· The World Health Organization (WHO) on March 6th reported that since the start of the conflict there have been 14 attacks on health care in Iran, and one in Lebanon.
· The IRCS operations and personnel continue to be impacted by the ongoing air strikes:
o On March 6th, their facility in Mahabad was damaged, along with 11 branches and rescue bases across the country.
o At least three relief vehicles and ambulances in Tehran are now out of service.
o A total of seven aid workers have been injured in the conflict.
