Military and Diplomatic Highlights:
· Between June 16-21, Iran launched over 950 missiles and drones at Israeli targets. These attacks have killed 24 people and injured 1,217 people.
· The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on June 21 struck Iranian F-14 fighter jets belonging to the Iranian Armed Forces in central Iran.
· The U.S. Department of Defense launched an attack on June 21st involving seven B-2 Spirit stealth bombers dropping a total of 14 30,000-pound GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP) "bunker buster" bombs at the three targets in Iran:
o This was the first operational use of the GBU-57 MOP.
o A U.S. Submarine also launched more than two dozen Tomahawk cruise missiles.
o The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported that the U.S. attack resulted in extensive damage at Esfahan. The nuclear sites at Fordow and Natanz were impacted.
o There is currently no off-site radiation increase being reported.
· On June 22nd, the IDF conducted several air strikes in Iran. The targets included:
o Over 30 sites (missile storage and launch infrastructure, radar and satellite systems, and surface to air missile launcher) across Kermanshah, Hamedan and Tehran.
o Imam Hussein" Strategic Missile Command Center in Yazd, where long-range Khorramshahr missiles were being stored.
o Missile launchers, and military sites involved in the production of aerial defense batteries
o Third Brigade drone command center, and a drone storage facility near the command center.
· The European Union (EU) on June 22nd reported that eight member states have activated the Union Civil Protection Mechanism to assist EU citizens affected by airspace closures in the region. At this time almost a thousand people were brought back to the EU.
· On June 22nd, the U.S. State Department issued a worldwide caution alert. US citizens are advised to exercise increased caution.
Civil Protection and Humanitarian Assistance Highlights:
· As of June 20th, the Iran Red Crescent Society (IRCS) reported the following:
o 882 teams have been deployed throughout the country.
o 136 people have been transported to medical centers.
o 832 people have been displaced and are being sheltered.
· As of June 21st, the UN has called for a de-escalation of this conflict. The conflict has already triggered population movements in both Israel and Iran.
· On June 22nd, the Magen David Adom (MDA) reports that they have treated and transported 1,213 people since the attack on Iran.
