Highlights:
· There are currently 90,200 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the Port-au-Prince Metropolitan Area in 85 sites:
o Over the past month the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) has been able to gain access to 22 of the IDP sites.
· The referral system of the National Ambulance Center is facing challenges as it is becoming increasingly difficult for personnel and ambulances to access gang-controlled areas.
· A total of 62 tons of essential supplies have been transported to Haiti.
· More than 100 humanitarian containers have been recovered from Caribbean Port Services in Port-au-Prince.
· U.S. Southern Command on April 25th coordinated another flight into Toussaint Louverture International Airport:
o A C-130 transported 20 pallets of oral hydration fluid which will provide hydration for more than 10,000 people.
· On April 23rd, the State University’s Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy was looted and vandalized.
· In support of the U.S. State Department, the U.S. Southern Command transported support and security augmentation personnel for the U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince on April 23rd.
· The U.S. State Department as of April 16th, reported that the airport in Port-au-Prince remains closed:
o The U.S. government is not arranging departures for U.S. citizens currently.
o The airports in Cap-Haitien and Les Cayes are open and have resumed limited commercial flight activity with connecting flights available to the United States.
