Global Highlights: Â
·      The World Health Organization (WHO) reported as of July 20th there are 2,697 cases (2,444 confirmed, 252 suspected & 1 probable):
o  970 deaths (969 confirmed & 1 probable).
o  A total of 488 people has recovered.
o  WHO reported on July 17th, that most of the new cases reported are being detected outside the known contact lists.
·      On July 14th, the Africa Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (Africa CDC) reported that clinical trials have begun on the antiviral obeldesivir that can prevent infection after high-risk exposure.

Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) Highlights:
·      As of July 15th, contact tracing currently stands at 67%, the goal is to push that above 90%.
·      Escalating violence in eastern DRC is disrupting humanitarian access and efforts to contain the outbreak:
o  Recent attacks in Beni territory have reportedly killed at least 22 people and displaced civilians.
o  Cases are being reported in 16 displacement sites which are hosting more than 270,000 people in Ituri.
o  The DRC and humanitarian partners are strengthening surveillance, testing, treatment and community engagement, while UN peacekeepers reinforce protection.
·      The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Assistance on July 16th reported that there are 18.5 million people in need and 10.8 million people are targeted for assistance.
·      The World Food Programme (WFP) as of July 20th has delivered over 96,000 hot meals and food assistance to 23,000 people in eastern DRC.
·      The DRC Ministry of Public Health, Hygiene and Social Security on July 19th reported that 10 new ambulances were delivered to the Ituri province to improve patient evacuation and care:
o  These ambulances are supporting the 190 motorcycles that are already deployed.

Uganda Highlights:
·      The last confirmed case detected in the country was reported on June 21st.
·      On July 16th, the Uganda Ministry of Health discharged the last patient who has made a full recovery.
·      The Uganda Ministry of Health reported on July 21st that 5,465 travelers have been screened:
o  2,105 inbound travelers.
o  1,714 outbound travelers.
o  The screening of travelers continues at 38 priority land border crossing with assistance
·      The Uganda Red Cross Society as of July 20th is continuing to support vulnerable communities through water, sanitation and hygiene programs that help improve access to safe water and strengthen resilience.

United States of America Highlights:
·      To reduce the risk of Ebola importation into the United States, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), under Title 42, and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), under Title 49, have instituted a Do not Board (DNB) process for passengers traveling from the DRC:
o  American citizens who are departing from the DRC may be subject to this order.
o  Citizens can re-enter only after 21-days after leaving the DRC.
